ONE LITTLE FINGER
One little finger, one little finger
One little finger, tap-tap-tap
Point your finger up, point your finger down
Put it on your [head, head]
This simple song works as a pointing game to help a class of 3-year-olds revise previously learned vocabulary. While the focus is on the parts of the body, it could be easily adapted to review other kinds of words such as colours, everyday classroom objects and furniture etc.
At first, the song will be sung and mimed by the teacher, who will encourage the children to sing along. The vocabulary word will be said last and a short time will be given so the children can point to the right part. For older children, or as the class is familiarised with the structure of the game, teachers will encourage children to participate more, by letting them, in turns, choose the word the rest of the class will have to point to.
It is based on the TPR method. It links simple orders with actions that the children can perform as we sing.
